The Standard

Unlike your average budget lodgings, The Standard offers a hip designer layout and spectacular views. Located in the legendary Meatpacking District, this incredible complex has a feature not found in any other New York hotel.

Since it is located amongst a cluster of low-lying warehouse buildings, every room in the hotel features amazing views. Some rooms offer sweeping Hudson River views, others views of the Midtown skyline, others views of the downtown buildings, and still others views of the east side. You really can’t go wrong with any room facing any direction at the Standard.

Plus, this hotel is situated right at the base of the Highline and within short walking distance of all the many features of Chelsea, SoHo, and Midtown. When you factor in that the rooms are significantly cheaper than any others in the area, you have the perfect budget stay hotel on your hands.

The Jane

This affordable hotel has a terrific location and a funky design that has made it increasingly popular with budget travelers. Located in a pre-war riverfront building, the Jane has small rooms that are modeled after European train sleeper cars. This unique design is definitely a plus, as is the convenient West Village location.

Right out the front lobby lies the vibrant expanse of the Village including all of the shopping, sights, and nightlife it has been known for over the decades. A river view for less than a hundred dollars per night is nearly unheard of in this city, so you should definitely keep The Jane in mind if you’re researching budget stays in the city.

Stay Hotel

If we’re talking Midtown, we’re usually talking expensive. Hotels in Midtown generally range from 300 to thousands per night, but the relatively new Stay hotel has smashed this barrier, offering affordable rates while not skimping on comfort or location.

All it will take is one look at the spectacular lobby to realize you aren’t in your average budget hotel. Glass chandeliers and an 18,000 gallon aquarium will greet you upon your entrance.

The wow factor doesn’t stop there either, as each room features large plasma televisions and space age bathrooms equipped with quality shampoos, conditioners, and lotions. Also keep in mind that the delicious and hip Aspen Social Club is located right on the bottom floor if you’re looking for a drink and a late night snack.

Nu Hotel

Any New Yorker will tell you that the real action these days is across the water in Brooklyn. Featuring a lively, young scene full of hip restaurants and bars, thousands of boutiques, high end flea markets and artist fairs, the greatest food truck scene in the country, and an overall vibrant and progressive vibe, Brooklyn has in many ways overtaken Manhattan as the coolest borough. This doesn’t mean that you can’t find a great budget hotel in the neighborhood, however, as many designer, hip, affordable hotels have popped up in recent years. The most popular of these is the Nu Hotel, which features a minimalist feel that ties right in with the Brooklyn aesthetic. Brooklyn offers much better parking opportunities, so you may be able to find street parking for your camper rental. Features such as free loaned bikes work right into the funky vibe, and within walking distance of the front lobby are literally hundreds of restaurants, bars, shops, and more.

Finding an affordable hotel in New York is not impossible. The sheer number of hotels and visitors each year make comfortable, affordable lodging a real possibility. Don’t fear going broke by steering your camper rental in NYC’s direction as long as you research well and choose an affordable place to stay for your trip.
