One summer I visited my aunt and uncle, living at Spain’s stunning Costa del Sol. I quickly discovered that the region offers a surprising diversity of topography, scenery and important historic places.
The coast lines the sparkling Mediterranean Sea and is dotted with lovely beaches, quaint villages and some sizable cities. The interior immediately becomes quite mountainous. It’s speckled with centuries’ old villages, impressive historic cities and many beautiful natural areas. Several national parks in the region preserve Spain’s impressive landscapes.
Thanks to my generous aunt and uncle, who took me out on many explorations of the region, I was able to visit El Chorro and El Torcal National Parks, enjoying their spectacular and diverse scenery.
