5 Holidays Destinations That Are More Affordable Than You Think

A lot of people miss out on certain holiday adventures because they assume they’re out of their budget. However, if you explore your options a little more, you might realize that some of these locations are actually a lot more affordable than you first thought.

We’ve taken the time to scout some of the most desirable holiday destinations around the world and let you know how to get the best deal.

Skiing in the Alps

Most ski resorts in Europe open at the end of November and close in mid-to-late April. By far the most popular time to visit is during Christmas and New Year, where prices can almost double.

You’ll also find a lot of parents taking their kids along during the February half-term. January tends to be the best time to go skiing for those who want the best deal, as you’ll avoid the Christmas rush and the kids will be back in school.

People often need to save money after an expensive holiday season, so you’ll find the Alps to be less busy during this period. This means there are fewer cues for the ski lifts and you can spend more time enjoying the slopes.

Visiting Disney World

Disney World has always a popular destination for families with young children. However, it’s now more expensive to visit than it’s ever been before. Fortunately, if you plan ahead you can still get a good deal and treat the family.

Typically, September is the best of the month of the year to visit Disney World if you want to avoid the crowds and get the best price. As the kids are just returning to school, many parents are reluctant to take the kids out for vacation. If you can make the time for it, though, it could be a great weekend trip.

By September, Disney also has most of its Halloween-themed events set up as well as the usual attractions, so you won’t be short on things to see.

A Cruise in the Caribbean

For those who prefer to relax in the sun instead, you’ve probably dreamed about visiting the Caribbean. A cruise from NCL is the perfect way to experience places like the Bahamas, where temperatures rarely drop below 60 degrees even during the winter.

The main tourist season is from December to May, where temperatures range from the high 70s to the low 80s. May is the perfect month to head to the Caribbean because while the tourist season is quieting down, you’re also too early to catch the bulk of the rainy season that occurs from late May to November.

Not only is the weather still ideal, it’ll be much better for your bank balance too as prices fall dramatically compared to earlier in the season.

Travelling in the Mediterranean

While only the southernmost parts of Europe will enjoy the kind of weather you’d typically associate with the Med, that doesn’t mean that the region should be avoided. After all, it’s still full of cultural hotspots to take in.

Athens still has great weather in May, with temperatures approaching 70 degrees, while rainfall is also at a minimum. Similarly, you could head out to Lisbon in Portugal for something a little different.

With average temperatures over 60 degrees, it’s warmer than both Madrid and Barcelona. Since the typical tourist season won’t start heating up until June, it’s the ideal time to visit this often neglected city.

Luxury in the Middle East

Spring is often seen as the best time to visit locations in the Middle East, While the temperature is warm, it’s not so hot that it makes outdoor activities uncomfortable. Between the months of February and April is the most popular period for tourists. The temperature will hover around 80 degrees during the daytime while dropping into the sixties as the sun goes down.

If you do find yourself heading to locations like Dubai or Doha during the summer months, your outdoor activities may be restricted by the heat but you’ll benefit from lower prices. Temperatures will average around 90 degrees in June, but if you’re spending your days in an air conditioned hotel by an indoor pool, you may not care about what’s happening outside
